A Day in the Life as a Solution Consultant...

Your morning starts by checking HubSpot, our CRM, to catch up on activity from the previous day. You review a client’s email about your recent presentation, where they request the proposal you’ve been working on. Using insights from yesterday’s workshop, you begin crafting a solution tailored to their needs, answering essential questions about scope, approach, and cost. Once you’ve finalised the proposal and estimate, the Account Director schedules a presentation for you to pitch to the client later in the week.

Next, you join a kick-off meeting with the delivery team. It’s your role to share the client’s vision, communicate business requirements, and highlight risks identified during the presales process. As Solution Consultant, you ensure both the client’s and team’s expectations are aligned for successful delivery.

In the afternoon, you lead a 3-hour discovery workshop with the client to refine their problem statement and clarify the project’s goals. Using a value proposition canvas, you facilitate a creative discussion that results in a high-level set of requirements and a prioritised list of Must-Haves. You even sketch out a solution on the whiteboard and draft an initial technical architecture—providing the client with a clear picture of the path forward.

Before wrapping up for the day, you jump on a quick call with the Account Director and a US-based client. They were initially seeking a predictive analytics platform, but through your probing questions, you discover that they actually need a data warehouse solution instead. Armed with this new understanding, you’re ready to draft a fresh proposal in the morning. Result!

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with clients to understand their needs, define solutions, and develop comprehensive, solution focussed plans and estimates

  • Lead internal kick-off meetings with delivery teams to ensure alignment between the client's vision and delivery strategy.

  • Facilitate discovery workshops, guiding clients through problem identification and solution sketching.

  • Work closely through discovery and build acting as a conduit between delivery and client

  • Create and present project proposals, including cost estimates and technical approach.

  • Act as a Solution Director, managing expectations and mitigating risks throughout the presales and delivery processes.

  • Communicate effectively with clients and teams to ensure project success.

What We’re Looking For:

  • You approach challenges with a positive mindset, seeking solutions and opportunities to overcome obstacles and deliver them within time and budget constraints

  • Proven track record in solution architecture, presales, or consultancy roles.

  • Background in designing technical solutions and project scoping.

  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and client-facing workshops, while taking ownership of the project vision.

  • Creative and analytical mindset to adapt solutions to evolving client needs.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills to engage with stakeholders, understand their goals, and deliver clear and actionable plans.

  • Deep understanding of the business implications of proposed solutions and understand how to work out client ROI and use this to inform estimates

  • Ability to focus on the client’s long-term goals, ensuring solutions are not just technically sound but also beneficial to the client’s business.
