Digital Meets Manufacturing:
The Impossible, Made Production-Ready.
As a proud Tier 2 Member of the AMRC, Razor bridges the gap between bleeding-edge academic research and heavy industry. We spin out projects, architect scalable microservices, and turn decades-old bottlenecks into automated breakthroughs.

Official AMRC Technology Partner
Bridging academic theory and heavy industrial reality.
The Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (AMRC) is a world-class hub for engineering innovation. They are the people proving what is theoretically possible for the future of manufacturing.
But taking a breakthrough from a controlled research lab and making it survive the brutal, high-speed reality of a factory floor? That’s where Razor enters from stage right.
As a proud Tier 2 Member of the AMRC (view our listing on the AMRC directory), we work hand-in-hand with their incredible research teams to spin out projects, deliver groundbreaking webinars, and uplift UK manufacturers. When manufacturing hardware hits a digital ceiling, we take prototype logic and rebuild it into lightning-fast, production-grade software.
Advanced Innovation Realised:
The Rolls-Royce Project
How do you accelerate the manufacturing throughput of a crucial jet engine component for one of the world's most prestigious aerospace manufacturers? You bring together a massive research organisation and an agile technology consultancy to move fast.
Rolls-Royce engaged the AMRC to investigate a system for detecting secondary grain anomalies within aerospace turbine blades. Translated into English: checking if the internal structure of the jet engine blades is absolutely perfect.
The AMRC achieved the "impossible" by generating the required X-ray measurements using cost-effective hardware. University of Sheffield optical imaging experts advanced the research, creating a semi-automated MATLAB prototype. It proved the concept worked. But for a relentless production machine cell, a lab prototype isn't optimal. It simply wasn't fast enough.
Enter Razor.
Working seamlessly with the AMRC, we took the MATLAB prototype and entirely re-engineered its functionality into robust, production-grade frameworks. Rolls-Royce set a strict target: a maximum 15-minute overall processing time.
Combining the AMRC’s elite research with Razor’s software engineering firepower, we reduced the processing time by 10x - down to under 5 minutes for over 4,000 X-ray images, completely blowing past Rolls-Royce's expectations.
The Result: A Project Rammed with "Firsts"
- The first time the AMRC took an "impossible" concept to the first stages of production.
- The first project where the AMRC collaborated with an external agile technology consultancy.
- An extraordinary innovation catapulted from Manufacturing Readiness Level (MRL) 1 straight to MRL 7, fully primed to take the step to MRL 8 and the shop floor.
Processing Speed Acceleration
Reduced raw image parsing times from a strict 15-minute target down to under 5 minutes for over 4,000 high-resolution X-ray images.
Manufacturing Readiness Level
Catapulted prototype logic directly from the research lab to full production-grade readiness, primed for immediate deployment on the shop floor.
Images processed concurrently under 300 seconds using optimised framework re-engineering.
Proving it in production.
Theory is good. Results are better. Explore the digital transformations we’ve engineered alongside the AMRC:
3D Print Engineering Made Simple

Voices from the Vanguard of Manufacturing
"When the CEO rings me and says, ‘We thought we could do it 20 times quicker but have worked out a way to process it 4,000 times quicker’ that’s when you know you have partnered with the right guys."
