You don't want to become irrelevant in the fast-moving technology environment.
When was the last time you had the opportunity to type "dotnet sln" in the CLI for a real commercial project and not a "pet project"?
We get it - it’s hard to get the opportunity. Products are usually established and you are following others ways of working (however questionable) or there are other members of the team who get to do this.
This needs to change, right?
We are looking for someone who has some experience, you don’t have to have 10's of years but enough to know what you are doing and to have made a few mistakes on the way (it’s OK we all get it wrong sometimes, it’s part of learning). You will be hungry for the next project or opportunity to learn a new technology such as IoT or 3D in the browser or integrating a machine learning model into an interface.
We don't expect you to know everything or have used all of the technologies we may have already used, we are learning all the time with new technologies and tools being added to our list all the time. The list below is most likely already out of date!
This is the beauty of Razor, we are always moving with the technology keeping relevant and up to date so our partners stay up to date and relevant and importantly - so do you!
From developer to developer; no waffle. The stuff we do is pretty clever and it’s fun to work on. Here’s an idea of the types of technologies you’d be expected to work with:
Sounds great? So what sort of things do we do with these technologies? Would any of these get you excited?
Do these sound like the sort of thing that would get you excited on a Monday morning? It definitely does for us! These are the types of challenges we have taken on in the last 12 months and are working on today. Who knows what we will have moved onto tomorrow!
The Senior Solution Engineer role is one where you own the delivery of a project. Following on from the work of a Principal Engineer you are the person who makes the decisions on what and how a project is built. The Principal Engineer forms a high-level vision and architecture - they ask all of the deep questions and form the direction and then it is over to you to deliver. The Solution Lead on your team is there to support you as they will be covering more than one project at a time - the one you are working on is your baby!
As a Senior Solution Engineer you get to focus on what you are great at. We have UX and UI specialists who handle all the front end design, HTML and CSS. We have data experts so don’t worry if you aren’t fully up to speed with R and your Maths skills don’t stretch that far yet.
Tools - we get asked about tools a lot. What do we use? What can we use? The answer is whatever enables you to work best. People have 16” MacBook Pro’s booting into OSX or Bootcamped - whatever works for you. Some use Visual Studio (always the latest version) with ReSharper. Some use Rider and the JetBrains toolkit with tools such as DataGrip. Some just use Visual Studio Code. Whatever works best for you.
A little bit about us and Razor. Razor is a technology consultancy. Strangely for a technology consultancy, we put technology after people. People come first which is why we always look to understand first, then respond. We don’t have a single product and we are constantly developing the future. We help organisations develop strategies and forge the vision of their future and we create disruptive and sustaining innovations. We work with the latest technologies and move quickly. The pace is fast, really fast and we have a lot of fun on the journey.
We believe that we have a strong positive and energetic culture. You will hear phrases like “leave your ego at the door” and “go forth and do something and ask for forgiveness if it doesn’t work”. We pride ourselves on encouraging people to push the boundaries and to have autonomy. We provide the direction and support, you bring the passion, energy and ideas to help us get there.
Some might refer to these as benefits, we don’t, we believe these are the basics;
And we're working to introduce even more!
The real benefits that are harder to replicate;
There are more benefits of working at Razor.
You are interested, aren't you? Of course you are, who wouldn't be! We bet that you are thinking, what do I do now? The answer; get in touch.
Drop us an email at [email protected] or if you fancy having a bit of fun, register your interest via our fun little API and we will get the conversation started!
We can't wait to hear from you 🙌
