We’ve been working with Cool Milk as a trusted technology partner for the past eight months and were thrilled when they asked up to join the judging panel of their Cool Initiatives EdTech competition.
This unique contest is designed to encourage and uncover great ideas that could change the face of the education sector. It’s also an inspiring showcase for the next generation of EdTech with some amazing prizes!
Cool Initiatives is a specialist investor in EdTech solutions and part of the Cool Milk group, which provides milk for schools up and down the country.
Like Razor, Cool Milk believes that technology can improve and transform how our future generations are educated and are investing in this belief with Cool Initiatives.
The judging panel included; Jon Thornes MBE Cool Milk Founder, John Sedgwick Cool Milk MD, Lauren Thorpe Head of Data & Systems Strategy at Ark, Jonathan Smart Executive Head Teacher of Excelsior Multi Academy Trust in Birmingham and our CEO, Jamie Hinton. We have to say there were some truly amazing ideas. All of the finalists had a strong initial product and fantastic ideas, making the judging very difficult.
In choosing a winner, we were looking for an innovative use of technology that was scalable, and an idea with the potential to make a lasting improvement to as many people as possible.
One entry that really stood out was ExamScreen. It was an idea that has already gained a lot of traction and had the potential to make a real difference to every person sitting an exam. In our eyes, the product was almost ready to run and needed to be kept as a free service. Attempting to make it commercial would only hamper its continued growth and adoption – and that could easily reduce the impact it could have across the country.
While ExamScreen were worthy runners up, the well-deserved winner was Steam School, a platform to connect students with inspirational science and tech innovators across the globe. Steam School is a perfect platform for engaging students, allowing them to see what is possible, and hosting two-way conversations with inspirational leaders.
All of the entrants were worthy winners and it was very difficult to select one winner.
You can see the winners and their pitch videos on the Cool Initiatives 2019 winners site.
If you have an idea that could inspire the schools of the future, why not get started on it and enter next year’s competition!
