How does that work?
That's an interesting problem, I wonder if?
What a feeling when that problem is solved!
We are looking for a senior or lead developer to work within our team that primarily look after the products and systems that we develop for customers.
We call this team the Rapid Response and Continual Improvement team because that is exactly what it is.
Rapid (Moving or acting with great speed; swift) Response (an answer or reply)
Computers do what they are told, right? Sometimes. They go wrong or elements change. Businesses change, demands change and we need to respond accordingly.
This is where the Rapid Response comes in. We aren’t talking about 24/7 incident support, we are talking about supporting applications within core hours. Sometimes there may be a short planned need outside of regular hours but this is very rare. It is handling tickets raised that may be anything from “X isn’t working correctly or not at all” through to “we need to change Y before then end of the week”.
Continual (of regular or frequent recurrence) Improvement (a change or addition by which a thing is improved)
Software - it’s perfect the first time and never changes, right? Of course not, an application is like a garden, there is always work to be done. We are operating in a moving environment. Business needs change, supporting systems change, processes change. We look after the systems we build and a part of this is evolving them and enhancing them. This means that there are new features and enhancements needed on a continual basis and this is where the continual improvement comes in.
You will need to be able to guide the team in how a need should be integrated and designed. There will be constraints so in some cases you may need to get creative to make it happen.
This is a really unique and exciting opportunity to step out of potentially a standard role and be immersed in some truly exciting challenges. You will get to learn fast with exposure to projects, daily challenges and a team who will be able to answer your questions.
Where are you again? We are based in Sheffield but that doesn’t mean that you have to be. We offer remote and flexible working. If you aren’t too far away, you are more than welcome to join us in our cool space that is a short walk from the train station.
If you hadn't worked out by now, Razor is a technology agency. We aren’t a single product shop. This gives you the opportunity to build new solutions with the right technologies, learn new technologies and apply them to older projects. You aren’t stuck looking at the same domain, the same code and the same challenges. Razor really is a place to keep you relevant with technology.
You will either have agency experience already and understand the pace and how fast you learn or you will have experience in a product house and know that there is more excitement out there 😉. We expect that you will have around three years commercial experience but if you think you already have the appetite without this experience, then please do get in touch.
This is a really exciting opportunity to join an incredibly exciting time at a company at the forefront of technology in the region.
What to expect from us?
We pay you well and care about your development. We are flexible and offer flexible working hours. We understand that you are human and have a life outside of work. We don't expect you to slave away - we want you to be productive and happy.
We have a great working environment that is close to Sheffield train station and the centre of town.
If you are a recruiter and read this far, we feel that we may have wasted your time for a change 😉. Please don't contact us, we will contact you if we want to. We hope that you appreciate this and take heed.
We will give you some of the best people to work with. People who you will be able to teach and who you will also learn a lot from.
We have UX and UI designers who create beautiful interfaces and provide you with clean HTML to work with.
We are constantly pushing the boundaries and have a clear vision of where we are going and who works well in our team. We are growing a culture with people who share our beliefs and want to enjoy the technology wave with us.
